Recently joining Williams Architects, Inc. as Vice President of Marketing/Special Projects, Marilyn Williams, has over 20 years of project development, administration and consensus building experience. Ms. Williams came to the WAI team from the Riverside County Transportation Commission where she served as The Director of Regional Programs and Public Affairs. In her 16 years at the Commission she served in a number of capacities providing leadership and coordination of transportation policy making and project design and implementation including the Measure A Commuter Assistance Program, Service Authority for Freeway Emergencies (call box and freeway service patrol programs), clean fuels and intelligent transportation system efforts, and the regional arterial Transportation Uniform Mitigation Fee (TUMF) program.

In addition, Ms. Williams created and expanded the Commission’s communications and public outreach program targeted towards maintaining and enhancing the agency’s relationships with its three primary stakeholder groups – citizens, businesses, and government. Ms. Williams developed a number of communication tools for the agency using print, radio and electronic media formats.

Ms. Williams’ broad roles and responsibilities required her to build and maintain relationships across a wide range of needs and interests at the local, regional and state levels. Her efforts related to commuter assistance and communications have received various local and national awards for their effectiveness and creativity. Ms. Williams is an accomplished team and consensus builder who works cooperatively with all project players while meeting timelines.

Prior to the Commission, Ms Williams worked as a Senior management Analyst for 8 years with the City of Pomona Public Works Department holding responsibility for special project implementation, budget oversight, grant compliance, and public information outreach for the Department’s five divisions.

Ms. Williams holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University at Long Beach in Housing and Environmental Factors. She is a founding member of the Women’s Transportation Seminar Inland Empire Chapter and currently serves on its Board of Directors.
